In the last few months I have discovered something that has helped me grow more professionally than any professional development (PD) or college course I have ever attended. For the last two years, my campus principal has been telling me about people on Twitter she follows and weekly chats she takes part in. I wish I would have listened to her sooner. Once I started finding people that knew more about a topic I was interested in and following tweets by people that have a similar job as mine, I became hooked. I have learned so much and gained a wealth of resources. The best resources have been the people I have met. My professional learning network (PLN) was limited to those on my campus prior to Twitter. Now my PLN extends accross the world! If you have not tried it yet, I encourage you to take a risk and try it. Don’t follow my example and wait two years before you do it.
