If you teach an early elementary grade or have in the past, it is safe to say you have likely heard about Fry Word Lists. These lists made up of 600 words were compiled by Dr. Edward Fry, hence the term “Fry Words.”
Why are these words important? Because these words are the most frequently used words in reading in writing.
If you are anything like me, you get bored of teaching the same thing in the same way. As an instructional leader, I am constantly searching for new lesson ideas to engage students and boost learning.
Using Mr. Linky’s Magical Widgets, I have compiled a list of 10 FREE Fry Word lesson ideas for the first 100 Fry words. All these lesson were created by teachers and are found on www.TeachersPayTeachers.com or teacher websites. These teachers have provided these lessons for free for you to use in your classroom.
There are a variety of activities including: games, practice pages, assessment sheets and more. I have started with 10 Free Fry Word lessons but have left the link open to allow others to add to this list of Free resources. I only ask that the resource that is linked be Free.
Keep coming back, I will continue to add Free Fry Word lesson ideas as I come across them.
I hope you find this compilation of idea list useful.
